The Apple MacBook Air (2022) is usually less expensive and more portable, with a slightly larger screen and a fanless design for silent operation, making it ideal for general use, while still offering good performance for light creative tasks. On the other hand, the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) provides better battery life and slightly higher performance due to an improved GPU and increased battery capacity, which makes it suitable for more intensive tasks such as video editing or software development. Both have excellent build quality and keyboard experiences, but the Pro may be preferable if your work demands extended hours away from a power source or requires more graphical processing power. The Apple MacBook Air has a better screen than the Apple MacBook Pro 13 for software development.
For both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, their high-resolution displays with accurate colors appeal to general users and professionals in engineering and design, due to the detailed visuals and strong color fidelity that aid precision work like CAD or graphic design. However, lacking advanced color gamuts may limit the level of color accuracy for the most demanding design tasks. Since they don't prioritize high refresh rates, these laptops are less suitable for 3D work, where smoother motion and quicker screen updates are crucial for an optimal experience.

The Apple MacBook Air (2022) with its 8-core GPU and the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) with a slightly more powerful 10-core GPU both offer good screen quality and the same refresh rate, making them fair choices for 3D tasks; however, the MacBook Pro has a modest edge in graphics performance due to more GPU cores. Neither is designed for high-end 3D rendering, but for light to moderate tasks, the MacBook Pro's extra GPU cores give it a bit more capability within a similar screen quality and refresh rate context.

How the Apple MacBook Air (2022) and the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Air M2 Entry is a very good, but too expensive daily MacBook. The new MacBook Air M2 is undoubtedly once again a very good mobile companion, but we are still a little bit disappointed on a very high level, which is definitely connected with the increased price point. The new chassis is extremely slim and the front edge is no problem during typing, but the bezels are pretty wide for a modern device and in addition with the vertical space required for the notch, the new Air has larger footprint than some Windows rivals."
"The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
