The Apple MacBook Air (2022) is a bit less expensive and more portable due to its smaller size and lighter weight compared to the Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023). While both have the same processor, the MacBook Air 15 has a slightly better graphics processing unit, a larger screen with higher resolution, and a bigger battery. This means the MacBook Air 15 is better suited for tasks that require a larger display and more graphics power, such as video editing or design work, but it is less portable and costs more. The Apple MacBook Air 15 has a better screen than the Apple MacBook Air for AI, and software development.
For general use, both the MacBook Air models have high-resolution screens with bright, vibrant displays, making them comfortable to view and great for media consumption and productivity tasks. In engineering and design, their screens cover a wide range of colors with accuracy, essential for work that requires precise color representation, such as photo editing or graphic design. However, for 3D applications, which benefit from higher refresh rates for smoother visuals, both laptops fall short as their display refresh rates are lower than what's preferred for those tasks, leading to poorer performance in fast-paced 3D environments.

The Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) and Apple MacBook Air (2022) are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Apple MacBook Air (2022) with its 8-core GPU and the Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) with a slightly more powerful 10-core GPU are both seen as fair for 3D tasks due to the inherent limitations of integrated GPUs compared to specialized gaming or professional graphics cards. Both models have a standard screen refresh rate and high screen quality, but the graphical performance is more suitable for lighter 3D tasks rather than intensive 3D gaming or professional-grade rendering that demand advanced GPUs with higher capabilities.

How the Apple MacBook Air (2022) and the Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Air M2 Entry is a very good, but too expensive daily MacBook. The new MacBook Air M2 is undoubtedly once again a very good mobile companion, but we are still a little bit disappointed on a very high level, which is definitely connected with the increased price point. The new chassis is extremely slim and the front edge is no problem during typing, but the bezels are pretty wide for a modern device and in addition with the vertical space required for the notch, the new Air has larger footprint than some Windows rivals."
"The Apple MacBook Air 15 is boringly good. The new MacBook Air 15 is a very good, but also boring device, because apart from the larger screen and the higher price, there are no differences compared to the smaller MacBook Air M2 from last year. No new processor, no additional ports, just the usual basic hardware - but the overall package is extremely good and it simply works. Above all, the lack of fans is an aspect that should not be underestimated in everyday use. In our opinion, the Air could be a lot better, but Apple goes easy on itself here."
