The MacBook Air is a better choice if you value longer battery life, a higher-resolution screen, and a lightweight, silent, fanless design ideal for general use and portability. On the other hand, the MSI Katana 15 has a more powerful processor and a dedicated graphics card, making it suitable for more intensive gaming, 3D rendering, or engineering tasks. However, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life, making it less portable. Both laptops are in a similar price range, but the Katana offers a larger screen, more storage, and additional RAM, while the MacBook Air offers a better screen quality for colors and built quality. The Apple MacBook Air has a better screen than the MSI Katana 15 for general use, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Apple MacBook Air's screen excels in general use and engineering due to its high resolution, brightness, and strong coverage of color gamuts, which ensures crisp, vibrant visuals for everyday tasks and color-sensitive work. The MSI Katana 15's fair screen quality for general use and engineering can be attributed to adequate resolution and brightness but with less exceptional color reproduction, making it satisfactory but not outstanding. For 3D tasks, a higher refresh rate is crucial for smooth visuals, which is where the MSI Katana 15 falls short, while the MacBook Air's screen is not designed for high refresh rates demanded by 3D applications.

How the Apple MacBook Air (2020) and the MSI Katana 15 compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Air M2 Entry is a very good, but too expensive daily MacBook. The new MacBook Air M2 is undoubtedly once again a very good mobile companion, but we are still a little bit disappointed on a very high level, which is definitely connected with the increased price point. The new chassis is extremely slim and the front edge is no problem during typing, but the bezels are pretty wide for a modern device and in addition with the vertical space required for the notch, the new Air has larger footprint than some Windows rivals."
"The MSI Katana 15 B12 combines a Gen12 CPU with an RTX 4050, which is actually not a bad idea for a budget gamer. The CPU is anything but bad and the GPU in the Katana 15 proves to be significantly more efficient than last year's models. However, our main point of criticism for budget gamers is the price: while you can get budget laptops with RTX 3060 from around US$800, you pay a whole US$1,499.99 here! The efficiency advantages of the RTX 4050 do not justify this price premium."
