The Acer Swift X (2021) offers relatively more powerful performance due to its dedicated Nvidia graphics card, making it well-suited for intensive engineering tasks, 3D rendering, and even some gaming. However, it's slightly heavier and larger, which affects portability. On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 is more portable due to its smaller size and lighter weight, also providing a touchscreen and generally costing less, but it has less storage and its integrated graphics are less capable for demanding tasks. If portability and cost are crucial, the Surface Laptop Go 3 is favorable, but for better performance, especially in graphics-intensive applications, the Swift X is the recommended option. The Acer Swift X (2021) and Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Acer Swift X is equipped with a dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU which is more suited for gaming and 3D applications than the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics in the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3; however, both laptops have a screen refresh rate capped at 60Hz which is not ideal for high-frame-rate gaming. While the Acer's GPU gives it an edge in performance, the screen quality -- with both offering standard color coverage and brightness -- and CPU capabilities are somewhat similar for gaming and 3D tasks in both laptops.

How the Acer Swift X (2021) and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 compare to other laptops
"The Swift X is an Acer for entry-level gaming. With the entry-level graphics chip, our Acer not only beats every single current AMD and Intel iGPU, but also Intel's dGPU Iris Xe Max. However, despite being a GDDR6 version, the GTX does not match the expectations set by its own counterparts from our database. This may be a result of the single fan, which only produces moderate noise levels under load. The performance level of the thin and light 1.4 kg (~3.09 lbs) 14-inch laptop is impressive nonetheless."
"When it comes to affordably priced laptops, the numbers after the dollar sign are crucially important—more so than in any other price category. By increasing the starting price of its Laptop Go line by $200 and not changing much else, Microsoft irrevocably altered the calculus surrounding the decision of whether to buy the Surface Laptop Go 3. Sure, it has a newer processor and longer battery life, but don’t think for a second you’re not paying dearly for that extra RAM and SSD capacity at that new price."
