The Acer Swift X 16 is very good for engineering and design, while the HP Victus 15 is only fair.
The Acer Swift X 16 is highly suited for engineering and design due to its powerful AMD Ryzen CPU, ample 16GB RAM, capable Nvidia RTX GPU, and high-resolution screen, which offer faster processing and sharper visuals essential for these fields. While the HP Victus 15 can also handle engineering tasks with its solid Intel i5 CPU and Nvidia RTX GPU, it has less RAM and a lower resolution screen, potentially limiting its ability to manage complex designs as smoothly as the Acer Swift X 16.

The Acer Swift X 16 has a better screen than the HP Victus 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Acer Swift X 16 boasts a higher resolution and superior brightness, enhancing the sharpness and visibility for daily tasks and detailed engineering work, while its wide color gamut supports precise color work in engineering and design. On the other hand, the lack of a high refresh rate on the Swift X 16 makes it less suitable for smooth rendering in gaming and 3D applications. The HP Victus 15, while providing adequate resolution and brightness for everyday use, falls short in color accuracy for professional design and lacks the high refresh rate gamers look for in fast-paced environments.

"Acer’s Swift X 16 is an excellent choice for shoppers who want a 16-inch laptop and care more for performance than attractive design or long battery life. The Swift X 16’s gorgeous OLED display, spacious keyboard, and big touchpad make it pleasant to use in basic day-to-day tasks. It also has an AMD Ryzen 9 processor and Nvidia RTX 4050 graphics, which combine to deliver good performance in a wide variety of productivity applications and games. A few minor mistakes, like poorly-placed USB-C ports that lack DisplayPort, will turn off some shoppers, but those who can accept its shortcomings will find the Swift X 16 a versatile daily driver."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
