If you prioritize portability and battery life for everyday tasks and some light creative work, the Acer Swift X with its smaller screen and lighter weight would be a suitable choice. However, if you need higher performance for gaming, 3D modeling, or more demanding machine learning tasks and don't mind a heavier and larger laptop, the HP Omen 16, with a more powerful processor and graphics card, would be better, though you'll sacrifice some battery longevity and ease of transportation. Both laptops share similar storage and memory capabilities, but the HP Omen 16 will give you a bigger and faster refresh rate screen, at the cost of higher weight and less portability compared to the Acer Swift X. The HP Omen 16 is very good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Swift X (2023) is only fair.
The HP Omen 16 has a stronger GPU and higher screen refresh rate than the Acer Swift X, making it very suitable for gaming and 3D applications. While the Swift X is good for these purposes with a capable GPU and a decent refresh rate, the Omen's superior graphics hardware and faster screen make it the better choice for gaming and 3D, despite potentially being more expensive and marginally less portable due to its larger size.

The Acer Swift X has a better screen than the HP Omen 16 for general use, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Acer Swift X offers a high-resolution display with bright and vivid colors, essential for both general use and detailed engineering tasks, but its limited refresh rate hampers its ability to display fluid motion required for high-frame-rate gaming. The HP Omen 16 provides a balanced viewing experience with acceptable color accuracy and brightness, suitable for everyday tasks and some professional design work but falls short for gaming where smoothness is crucial. Neither laptop excels in gaming scenarios due to the poor refresh rates which can't deliver the rapid on-screen action gamers need, despite handling static images well for other uses.

How the Acer Swift X (2023) and the HP Omen 16 compare to other laptops
"The Swift X is an Acer for entry-level gaming. With the entry-level graphics chip, our Acer not only beats every single current AMD and Intel iGPU, but also Intel's dGPU Iris Xe Max. However, despite being a GDDR6 version, the GTX does not match the expectations set by its own counterparts from our database. This may be a result of the single fan, which only produces moderate noise levels under load. The performance level of the thin and light 1.4 kg (~3.09 lbs) 14-inch laptop is impressive nonetheless."
"The Omen 16 has proven to be a fairly good mid-range gaming laptop with all-around improvements compared to the Omen 15. The high overall performance level across all use cases, the long battery life, and the good FHD display constitute the main advantages of this HP laptop. The main drawbacks are the faulty touchpad (one-off?) and the high latencies that can be observed even after just opening the browser. Furthermore, the useless, preinstalled 30-day trial versions of various software also fall under the category "unnecessary"."
