If budget is a priority and you need a laptop for everyday tasks with some light creative work, the Acer Swift X offers a balance between cost and performance while being easier to carry around. The ASUS ROG Strix, on the other hand, is designed for high-end gaming, 3D modeling, and intensive engineering software, providing top-tier performance, but it's more expensive and less portable due to its size and weight. For long periods away from an outlet, the Swift X usually delivers longer battery life, which may also be a deciding factor. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2024) is very good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Swift X (2023) is only fair.
The Acer Swift X offers a balance of performance with a capable GPU and screen quality suitable for gaming and 3D applications, but the ASUS ROG Strix G16 excels with a higher-end GPU and faster screen refresh rate, delivering smoother visuals which is very important for a premium gaming experience. While both have strong CPUs, the ASUS's focus on advanced gaming features like its superior refresh rate gives it an edge for more demanding gaming and 3D tasks.

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2024) and Acer Swift X (2023) are both very good for engineering and design, though the ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2024) is somewhat better.
The Acer Swift X offers a balance of performance and portability with a capable CPU and RAM for typical engineering tasks, alongside a quality screen; however, it might not handle the most demanding work as smoothly as the ASUS ROG Strix G16, which, with its high-end GPU and superb screen resolution, excels in intensive tasks but is less portable and could be louder when running heavy applications. The ROG's premium features also often mean a higher cost, which could be a consideration for budget-conscious buyers.

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 has a better screen than the Acer Swift X for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
While both the Acer Swift X and ASUS ROG Strix G16 feature panels with high resolution and brightness, making them great for general use and detail-oriented tasks in engineering and design, their lower refresh rates compared to gaming-specific models make them less suitable for smooth visuals in fast-paced games and 3D rendering. The panels are equipped with a wide range of colors spanning DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB, critical for professionals who need precise color accuracy for graphic design or video editing. However, the lack of a high refresh rate means that while these laptops can handle motion in everyday applications well, they won't provide the fluid experience demanded by high-end gaming or intensive 3D modeling where fast refresh is key to performance.

How the Acer Swift X (2023) and the ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2024) compare to other laptops
"The Swift X is an Acer for entry-level gaming. With the entry-level graphics chip, our Acer not only beats every single current AMD and Intel iGPU, but also Intel's dGPU Iris Xe Max. However, despite being a GDDR6 version, the GTX does not match the expectations set by its own counterparts from our database. This may be a result of the single fan, which only produces moderate noise levels under load. The performance level of the thin and light 1.4 kg (~3.09 lbs) 14-inch laptop is impressive nonetheless."
"With the mobile Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080, the Asus ROG Stix G16 hits the sweet spot between performance and cooling. The G16 also does not have to shy away from direct comparison with its supposedly stronger family member, the ROG Strix Scar 18 with its RTX 4090, as most benchmarks of the two laptops are very close to each other. Moreover, the G16 should be significantly cheaper. Depending on the supplier, the price difference here could be almost US$ 2,000. In the 2023 model series, Asus has significantly leveled out the differences between the two high-end lines."
