If price is a major factor for you, the Acer Swift 3 offers good value for money with respectable performance for general use and moderate engineering tasks. However, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" typically provides a premium build quality, a better display, and potentially better performance for more demanding tasks such as 3D work, machine learning, or gaming. The Surface is also more portable, with a thinner and lighter design, but you'll pay more for these advantages. Battery life may vary between models, but premium laptops like the Surface often have longer battery life, which is something to consider if you're frequently on the move. Keep in mind that with the Swift 3, you might compromise on screen quality and build, but you could save a significant amount. Give Feedback

The Acer Swift 3 has a better screen than the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" for software development, while the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
If you prioritize a clear and vivid display for tasks like browsing and watching videos, both the Acer Swift 3 and Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 offer screens with resolutions and brightness levels that are ample for these activities. For engineering and design work where precise color representation matters, they both provide color accuracy that is suitable for professional use, though they may not cover the industry's most demanding color standards completely. However, if you're into fast-paced gaming or 3D rendering, the lower refresh rates on these laptops may not deliver the smooth visuals preferred for such applications, even though their resolution and panel types are sufficient.

The Acer Swift 3 and Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" are both good for engineering and design.
The Acer Swift 3 with its higher battery capacity and slightly better portability due to a lighter frame can be more appealing for on-the-go engineering and design tasks, but it has a less powerful CPU than the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5, which provides a higher resolution and better screen quality that might be more suitable for detailed design work. However, the Surface Laptop has lower battery life and its keyboard and speaker quality are rated lower, which could be a trade-off if these factors are a priority for you.

How the Acer Swift 3 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" compare to other laptops
"With the Swift 3, Acer delivers a 14-inch laptop with a sleek, slim metal chassis. The latter is of high quality and sturdy enough for everyday use, which is a real plus point among the 700-Euro (~$798) models. A new feature is Thunderbolt 4 in the Type-C format for peripherals or even displays (DisplayPort via Type-C). Unfortunately, a card reader is still missing, and the RAM is completely onboard, so there are no upgrade options here. Acer's 14-incher is affordable, yet it does everything most would want from a truly mobile laptop: Long battery life, a great display, quality, sufficient ports, light weight, and low noise and heat emissions."
"The Surface Laptop 5 remains afloat as a solid machine. It's just not one that stands out in any particular way. Just like the last one. The biggest upgrade were some new components, but they perform in the same range as other laptops with them, and frequently at the bottom of that range. I suspect Microsoft's settings are very conservative to help keep cooling and battery life within reason in the older chassis design."
