To decide between the Acer Swift 3 and the Dell Latitude 14 7490, consider how you plan to use the laptop. If your tasks involve running demanding applications for engineering, gaming, or machine learning, and you're okay with spending more, the Acer Swift 3 often offers superior performance. However, if portability is a priority and you're looking for a more budget-friendly option that still handles general usage well, the Dell Latitude 14 7490 could be the right pick, although it might not handle intensive tasks as smoothly as the Acer Swift 3. Keep in mind that the higher price of the Acer Swift 3 may also fetch you longer battery life, which is beneficial if you're often on the move. Give Feedback

The Acer Swift 3 is good for engineering and design, while the Dell Latitude 14 7490 is only fair.
The Acer Swift 3 is better suited for engineering and design use due to its more powerful Intel i5-1240P processor and Iris Xe graphics, which provide stronger performance for design software compared to the Dell Latitude 14 7490's older Intel i7-8650U processor and weaker Intel UHD Graphics 620. Additionally, the Acer's screen quality is slightly better in terms of brightness and color coverage, enhancing visual work, while both laptops offer similar portability and have good keyboards and speaker quality, though the Dell is slightly heavier and might produce more operating noise.

The Acer Swift 3 has a better screen than the Dell Latitude 14 7490 for general use, software development, and content creation.
The Acer Swift 3 offers a vivid and sharp display suitable for everyday tasks and detailed engineering work due to its satisfactory resolution and brightness, but its lower refresh rate makes it less ideal for gaming and 3D applications that benefit from smoother visuals. The Dell Latitude 14 7490's screen, while providing adequate resolution and acceptable brightness for general activities, excels in color accuracy important for engineering and design tasks, but similarly falls short for gaming and 3D due to its modest refresh rate. Both laptops, however, lack the higher refresh rates and specialized features that dedicated gaming or 3D laptops offer, which might be a dealbreaker for users focused on those areas.

How the Acer Swift 3 and the Dell Latitude 14 7490 compare to other laptops
"With the Swift 3, Acer delivers a 14-inch laptop with a sleek, slim metal chassis. The latter is of high quality and sturdy enough for everyday use, which is a real plus point among the 700-Euro (~$798) models. A new feature is Thunderbolt 4 in the Type-C format for peripherals or even displays (DisplayPort via Type-C). Unfortunately, a card reader is still missing, and the RAM is completely onboard, so there are no upgrade options here. Acer's 14-incher is affordable, yet it does everything most would want from a truly mobile laptop: Long battery life, a great display, quality, sufficient ports, light weight, and low noise and heat emissions."
"The Dell Latitude 7490's got the speed you need (and then some), a keyboard that's comfortable enough for writing all day long and a battery that supports a full 8-hour workday. If only the display were brighter and it managed heat better. If you need every minute of battery life you can get, the extended-battery version of the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 lasts 8 hours longer than the Latitude 7490, but its display is much less colorful."
