The Acer Swift 3 is good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook 15 is only fair.
The Acer Swift 3 is favored for general use due to a more powerful CPU, double the RAM, a superior screen with higher brightness and better color coverage, better battery life, and its lighter weight enhances portability. The ASUS Vivobook 15, while offering a larger screen, falls short on performance with a lower-tier CPU, less RAM, a dimmer display with lesser color accuracy, reduced battery capacity, and heavier weight that may affect portability.

The Acer Swift 3 is good for engineering and design, while the ASUS Vivobook 15 is only fair.
The Acer Swift 3 stands out for engineering and design use primarily due to its superior CPU, double the RAM, and a more powerful integrated GPU compared to the ASUS Vivobook 15, which ensures smoother multitasking and better handling of complex applications. Additionally, the Acer has a higher screen quality with better brightness and color range, important for tasks that require visual precision, while the ASUS, with a larger screen size, sacrifices portability, has a less vibrant display and lower performance components, therefore being just fair for engineering and design tasks.

The Acer Swift 3 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the Acer Swift 3's higher resolution and brighter display offer sharper and clearer visuals than the ASUS Vivobook 15, which makes it easier on the eyes during tasks like web browsing and document editing. In engineering and design, the Acer Swift 3's screen displays a wider range of colors, providing more accuracy for professional applications that require true-to-life color representation. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short as they lack the high refresh rate required for smooth motion rendering, but the resolution and panel types are adequate for casual gaming or entry-level 3D work.

How the Acer Swift 3 and the ASUS Vivobook 15 compare to other laptops
"With the Swift 3, Acer delivers a 14-inch laptop with a sleek, slim metal chassis. The latter is of high quality and sturdy enough for everyday use, which is a real plus point among the 700-Euro (~$798) models. A new feature is Thunderbolt 4 in the Type-C format for peripherals or even displays (DisplayPort via Type-C). Unfortunately, a card reader is still missing, and the RAM is completely onboard, so there are no upgrade options here. Acer's 14-incher is affordable, yet it does everything most would want from a truly mobile laptop: Long battery life, a great display, quality, sufficient ports, light weight, and low noise and heat emissions."
"The Asus VivoBook 15 is a quiet office notebook with a strong screen. However, the VivoBook 15 still has room for improvement. Office and internet applications as well as simple games do not pose any major challenges for the VivoBook - this is ensured by the built-in combination of Ryzen 7 5700U APU and 16 GB of RAM. Heat and noise emissions are acceptable. But, the laptop has weaknesses that should not be present at this level: lack of keyboard lighting, a slow memory card reader, no fast USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 4) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort. Battery runtimes can only be described as average."
