The Acer Nitro 5 17 is less expensive, has more storage, and comes with a more powerful Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card compared to the MSI Pulse GL66's Nvidia RTX 3070. However, it is larger, heavier, and has a substantially lower battery life. On the other hand, the MSI Pulse GL66, while more expensive and with less storage, is more portable thanks to its smaller screen size and lighter weight, which may be better for those who move around often. Both have the same amount of RAM and similar processor performance but if portability and budget are less of a concern, the Acer may better handle intensive tasks like gaming and engineering due to its superior GPU. The Acer Nitro 5 17 has a better screen than the MSI Pulse GL66 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Acer Nitro 5 17 offers a quality screen with higher resolution and brightness, which enhances the viewing experience for general tasks and detail-oriented work like engineering, but its lower refresh rate makes it less suitable for fast-paced gaming and 3D applications. Conversely, the MSI Pulse GL66 has a fair screen that provides a balanced experience for everyday and professional tasks, but it may not stand out in any particular area due to average color range and screen features. For those interested in gaming or working with 3D content, both laptops fall short due to their poorer refresh rates, which are crucial for smooth motion and fast-action visuals.

How the Acer Nitro 5 17 and the MSI Pulse GL66 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 17 is a solid mid-range gamer. The Nitro 5 does not belong to the top group of RTX 3070 notebooks: Compared with the RTX 3070 notebooks tested so far, the computer delivers below-average frame rates - this is due to the 100-watt TGP. The GPU performance can be increased a bit with a firmware update. The device scores with a high level of CPU performance. Throttling is not a concern. CPU and GPU can produce their performance constantly. The laptop heats up moderately under load. The noise development is on the usual class level."
"The MSI Pulse GL66 has a lot of potential for improvement. Although the RTX 3060 is only able to use 105 watts, we still liked the gaming performance, particularly since this also makes the Pulse comfortably efficient but not slow by any means. Neither the dark display with its lame response times, nor USB 2.0 or the lack of Thunderbolt will please real gamers. The use of a sticker factory seal, which is at least questionable, also won't inspire any enthusiasm. It is obvious that the laptop is really designed for price-conscious gamers."
