The Acer Nitro 5 17, with its powerful AMD Ryzen processor and Nvidia RTX graphics, is designed for gaming and can handle demanding engineering applications, but it's larger, heavier, and has a shorter battery life. It features a large screen which is great for productivity and multimedia, but less convenient for mobility. In contrast, the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED is more portable and offers a superior OLED display with high resolution, excellent color coverage, making it better for tasks involving photo and video editing. It relies on integrated graphics, which is less suited for 3D, gaming, or intensive engineering software. Consider the Acer if performance in graphics-intensive tasks is a priority and you don't mind less portability, or the ASUS if a high-quality screen, lighter weight, and longer battery life are more important for your daily use. The Acer Nitro 5 17 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED for gaming and AI, while the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED has a better screen for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Nitro 5 17 offers a larger screen with good resolution and brightness, making text and images sharp and enjoyable for everyday tasks and detail-oriented engineering work, but its lower refresh rate could make fast-paced gaming action less smooth. In contrast, the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED provides an exceptional range of colors and high contrast due to its OLED technology, which is excellent for both daily activities and color-accurate engineering design, yet the screen's lower refresh rate falls short for gaming, where fluid motion is key. Neither laptop's display is optimized for gaming or 3D applications, where a high refresh rate is critical to achieve smooth visual performance.

How the Acer Nitro 5 17 and the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 17 is a solid mid-range gamer. The Nitro 5 does not belong to the top group of RTX 3070 notebooks: Compared with the RTX 3070 notebooks tested so far, the computer delivers below-average frame rates - this is due to the 100-watt TGP. The GPU performance can be increased a bit with a firmware update. The device scores with a high level of CPU performance. Throttling is not a concern. CPU and GPU can produce their performance constantly. The laptop heats up moderately under load. The noise development is on the usual class level."
"The Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED excels as a capable work machine at an affordable price. It offers commendable performance, thanks to its 12th Gen Intel chip, delivers quality on-screen entertainment with its 15.6-inch OLED display, and can (kind of) get you through a full day of work. Oh, and its special Asus Antibacterial Guard is a nice touch for those who like a clean laptop."
