The Acer Nitro 5 15 is a bit less expensive and has a slightly larger battery capacity compared to the MSI Katana 15, which may result in longer usage between charges. Conversely, the MSI Katana 15 comes with double the storage capacity, making it more suitable for users with large media collections or who install numerous applications. Also, while both have comparable screen sizes and types, only the MSI offers additional USB-C connectivity. For gaming, both support hardware ray tracing and DLSS, but the MSI's better GPU will provide enhanced performance. If portability is a significant factor, the MSI is lighter. Both have a 15.6-inch display and are categorized as gaming laptops, but the Acer offers slightly better build quality and heat management. Give Feedback

The Acer Nitro 5 15 has a better screen than the MSI Katana 15 for general use, and software development.
The Acer Nitro 5 15 offers a solid blend of resolution and brightness suitable for everyday tasks, which benefits general use, but its limited color gamut may not fully satisfy engineering and design professionals who need precision. For gaming and 3D applications, it lacks the high refresh rate necessary to deliver the smooth visuals that are highly valued in those arenas. Meanwhile, the MSI Katana 15 provides adequate clarity and brightness for general use, and has a similar color range that is serviceable, though not ideal for color-critical work; its gaming and 3D performance are hampered by the same refresh rate limitations as the Nitro.

The Acer Nitro 5 15 and MSI Katana 15 are both good for general use.
The Acer Nitro 5 15 with its Intel i5 processor, ample RAM and quality IPS screen, ensures smooth performance for everyday tasks, but it's heavier and has a shorter battery life, affecting its portability. In contrast, the MSI Katana 15 also provides reliable performance due to a similar processor and RAM configuration, along with a lighter build for better portability, but it trades off with a slightly lesser storage capacity and screen quality. Both laptops manage heat well, but the MSI has a lower general portability score due to its reduced battery life.

How the Acer Nitro 5 15 and the MSI Katana 15 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 is a fast QHD gaming notebook. The Nitro 5 is a well-balanced gaming laptop for just under US$ 2400. A Core i7-12700H CPU and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU enable QHD gaming at high to maximum settings, accompanied by fast PCIe-4-SSD (1 TB) and 16 GB of RAM. Acer delivers a solid QHD gaming notebook with the Nitro 5 AN515-58. However, the laptop is not completely free of shortcomings. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The laptop heats up noticeably under load, but not excessively. Noise development is on the usual class level. Once again, however, Acer needs to improve the fan control."
"The MSI Katana 15 B12 combines a Gen12 CPU with an RTX 4050, which is actually not a bad idea for a budget gamer. The CPU is anything but bad and the GPU in the Katana 15 proves to be significantly more efficient than last year's models. However, our main point of criticism for budget gamers is the price: while you can get budget laptops with RTX 3060 from around US$800, you pay a whole US$1,499.99 here! The efficiency advantages of the RTX 4050 do not justify this price premium."
