The Acer Nitro 5 15 is generally less expensive and offers better general, 3D, and engineering performance with more RAM and a newer processor, which makes it suitable for more intensive gaming and tasks. It has a larger battery and newer GPU, but is heavier and thicker, impacting portability. The MSI GF65 Thin, despite being more costly, has a more compact and lighter design that favors portability, but offers less RAM and an older CPU which might not handle intensive tasks as well. Both have similar screen sizes and types, with no touchscreen and standard refresh rates. Give Feedback

The Acer Nitro 5 15 is good for engineering and design, while the MSI GF65 Thin is only fair.
The Acer Nitro 5 15 boasts strong performance for engineering and design tasks with its ample RAM and advanced GPU, which complement a quality display that's vital for detail-oriented work; similarly, the MSI GF65 Thin, with a potent CPU and high-quality GPU, handles demanding applications smoothly and its screen offers clarity for precision tasks, though both laptops trade off some portability due to their robust capabilities. The keyboards and speakers on both models are satisfactory, with portability slightly reduced owing to their size; however, this is often less critical for users prioritizing computational power and screen real estate over the need to frequently transport their device.

The Acer Nitro 5 15 has a better screen than the MSI GF65 Thin for general use, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the Acer Nitro 5 15, with its good screen resolution and brightness, offers a pleasant viewing experience, while the MSI GF65 Thin provides acceptable visuals, but may not be as vibrant. When considering engineering and design tasks, both the Acer and the MSI may lack the wide color gamut necessary to accurately represent colors, which could be crucial when precision in visuals is needed. For gaming and 3D applications, the lower refresh rates on both laptops mean less smooth motion and potentially less immersive experiences, despite their adequate resolutions and panel types.

How the Acer Nitro 5 15 and the MSI GF65 Thin compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 is a fast QHD gaming notebook. The Nitro 5 is a well-balanced gaming laptop for just under US$ 2400. A Core i7-12700H CPU and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU enable QHD gaming at high to maximum settings, accompanied by fast PCIe-4-SSD (1 TB) and 16 GB of RAM. Acer delivers a solid QHD gaming notebook with the Nitro 5 AN515-58. However, the laptop is not completely free of shortcomings. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The laptop heats up noticeably under load, but not excessively. Noise development is on the usual class level. Once again, however, Acer needs to improve the fan control."
"The MSI GF65 Thin offers a GeForce RTX 3060 on a budget. The MSI GF65 is a relatively inexpensive RTX 3060 laptop and, perhaps not coincidentally, it also comes with a slower-than-average RTX 3060 GPU. Other laptops we've tested thus far with the same GPU are about 10 to 15 percent faster. CPU performance is also slightly slower than average unless if users decide to enable Cooler Boost mode. Colors, black-white response times, Thunderbolt, and DisplayPort are either average or completely omitted. Gamers who want to maximize performance-per-dollar without sacrificing RAM or SSD upgradeability will find the lightweight MSI GF65 attractive."
