If you're looking for a laptop primarily for gaming or high-demand tasks and you don't mind spending more, the ASUS ROG Strix may serve you better with its likely superior performance and features conducive to those activities. Conversely, if you're budget-conscious and need a machine that can handle everyday tasks with some gaming capability, the Acer Nitro 5 offers a more cost-effective solution. However, it may not perform as well with the most demanding software or games. The ASUS will generally have a heftier build which can impact portability, while the Acer may be easier to carry around but with a tradeoff in build quality and possibly the performance. Consider how you value price versus performance and portability when making your decision. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Sascha Mölck | June 2022
"The Acer Nitro 5 is a fast QHD gaming notebook. The Nitro 5 is a well-balanced gaming laptop for just under US$ 2400. A Core i7-12700H CPU and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU enable QHD gaming at high to maximum settings, accompanied by fast PCIe-4-SSD (1 TB) and 16 GB of RAM. Acer delivers a solid QHD gaming notebook with the Nitro 5 AN515-58. However, the laptop is not completely free of shortcomings. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The laptop heats up noticeably under load, but not excessively. Noise development is on the usual class level. Once again, however, Acer needs to improve the fan control."

Marc Herter | March 2023
"With the mobile Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080, the Asus ROG Stix G16 hits the sweet spot between performance and cooling. The G16 also does not have to shy away from direct comparison with its supposedly stronger family member, the ROG Strix Scar 18 with its RTX 4090, as most benchmarks of the two laptops are very close to each other. Moreover, the G16 should be significantly cheaper. Depending on the supplier, the price difference here could be almost US$ 2,000. In the 2023 model series, Asus has significantly leveled out the differences between the two high-end lines."
