The Acer Nitro 17 offers a large screen and a numeric keyboard, making it well-suited for people who prefer a bigger display and convenient data entry, but it is heavier and less portable. With a slightly lower price, it is a cost-effective option for general use and gaming. On the other hand, the ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition has a higher performance processor and better color representation on its screen, giving an edge in tasks involving 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering. It's also more portable due to its smaller size and lighter weight, but it comes at a higher cost and has less built-in storage. Both have similar battery capacities, but the ASUS model slightly outperforms in battery life during typical usage. If you prioritize screen size and budget, the Acer might be your choice, but for high performance in demanding applications and a more travel-friendly design, the ASUS would be preferable. PCMag

Mark Knapp | October 2023
"The Acer Nitro 17 isn't an exceptional gaming laptop; it's kind of chunky even among 17.3-inch notebooks, with a lackluster keyboard, and it doesn't outperform comparably priced machines. But there's a lot to like about it, including a good array of ports, a screen that's sharp and bright for work and play alike, and battery life that soundly beats the competition. All this comes at an affordable price. If size and weight aren't big concerns, you'll find the Nitro 17 a dependable big-screen gaming rig. If you crave higher quality, consider a slight step down or up in screen size with the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 or Alienware m18 respectively."

Andrew E. Freedman | August 2022
"The Asus ROG Strix G15, as the first in a line of "AMD Advantage"-branded notebooks, is a statement that yes, you can get a premium AMD gaming notebook. Maybe you can't have it all, but you can get pretty close. The ROG Strix G15's combination of the AMD Ryzen 5900HX and Radeon RX 6800M, as well as other technologies that take advantage of them, make a potent, thin gaming machine. Powerful Dolby Atmos speakers and long battery life when you aren't gaming are nice bonuses."
