For a balance of performance and value, the Acer Aspire 5 17 is a solid choice with its budget-friendly price and respectable Intel i5 processor, suitable for general use and light engineering tasks. Its large 17.3-inch screen is great for multitasking and entertainment, though the 60Hz refresh rate may not satisfy avid gamers. The laptop is also quite portable for its size, with a decent battery life for everyday tasks. On the other hand, if you're looking for a powerhouse that excels in gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning, the Lenovo Legion 5 16 (2024) is the way to go. Its high-end Intel i9 processor and Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics deliver top-tier performance, complemented by a high-refresh-rate 16-inch display that's ideal for fast-paced gaming. The Legion 5 also offers superior color accuracy and brightness, making it suitable for creative professionals. However, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life, which might impact its portability. In summary, choose the Acer for everyday use and portability on a budget, but opt for the Lenovo if you prioritize high performance for gaming and intensive tasks, and you're okay with a bulkier design and shorter battery life. NotebookCheck

Marcus Schwarten | March 2021
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
