The Acer Aspire 5 provides a larger screen, which can be good for multitasking and viewing content, but it will be less portable due to its size and slightly heavier build compared to the HP EliteBook. The Acer is also less expensive, a benefit if budget is a concern. The HP EliteBook, while costing more, offers double the RAM for better multitasking and performance in demanding applications, a slightly better battery life, and with its smaller size and lower weight, it's more conducive to travel. Its higher resolution and aspect ratio might also be advantageous for productivity tasks and content viewing. Both have sufficient processing power for general use, but if tasks involve engineering or require higher performance, the additional RAM and better screen of the EliteBook could be beneficial. If portability and performance take precedence over screen size and budget, the EliteBook is the superior option. Give Feedback

The HP EliteBook 845 G9 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers a balance of resolution and brightness suitable for daily tasks and some professional work, but its color range may not meet the demands for precision in engineering and design, and its standard refresh rate limits the experience for fast-paced 3D applications. The HP EliteBook 845 G9 provides a high-quality display that satisfies the sharpness and color precision needed for both general computing and specialized engineering software, but like the Aspire, its modest refresh rate isn't ideal for the smooth visuals crucial in high-end gaming or professional 3D rendering. Both laptops are better suited for productivity and less for gaming or high frame rate-dependent tasks due to the focus on screen qualities other than refresh rate.

The HP EliteBook 845 G9 and Acer Aspire 5 17 are both good for general use.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers a large 17.3-inch screen for comfortable viewing and a good build that supports the demands of general use, but it compromises on portability due to its size and average battery life. Meanwhile, the HP EliteBook 845 G9, while more portable and featuring outstanding battery life, also boasts a higher quality keyboard and better heat management, making it a solid choice for those who prioritize mobility and long hours of use without the need to recharge frequently.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers HP EliteBook 845 G9 to be good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 is fair for engineering and design use due to a less powerful Intel processor and integrated graphics, along with a dimmer screen and lower color accuracy than the HP EliteBook. The HP EliteBook 845 G9 is good for these tasks because it has a stronger AMD processor, better GPU, outstanding screen brightness, and higher color coverage, making it more suitable for intensive tasks and detailed design work.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the HP EliteBook 845 G9 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The high-end version of the HP EliteBook 845 G9 with a Ryzen 9 PRO 6950HS, 32GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD packs a lot of power, but is still quiet and cool enough to operate in noise-sensitive environments. Quiet, cool and drawing on a massive 40 watts from the APU at the same time, however, is not possible. The 14-incher only has a single-fan solution and it only just manages to keep an near unthrottled Ryzen 9 in check."
