The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers a lower midrange price and is suitable for general use with reasonable battery life, making it accessible for everyday tasks and casual users. It's lightweight, enhancing portability, but has lower performance in areas like 3D rendering and engineering software compared to the Gigabyte Aorus 17G. The Gigabyte model, although significantly more expensive, provides superior performance for intensive engineering tasks, 3D modeling, and machine learning due to a better main processor and graphics card. It also features a keyboard with RGB lighting and has hardware capabilities for gaming. However, it's heavier and has a slightly larger physical size, which makes it less portable. Both laptops have similar screen sizes and types, but the Aorus 17G boasts a higher refresh rate, which is advantageous for gaming and smooth visuals. The Acer may be considered for cost-conscious buyers focusing on basic tasks, while the Gigabyte is tailored for users requiring more robust performance and gaming capabilities at a premium price. The Gigabyte Aorus 17G has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
If you're primarily using your laptop for everyday tasks like browsing, office applications, or watching videos, both the Acer Aspire 5 and Gigabyte Aorus 17G will serve you well with their resolution and brightness. For engineering and design work, where precise colors matter, the Gigabyte's color gamut coverage will be superior, providing truer and more vibrant colors, but the Acer will still suffice for more basic design needs. However, if you're into 3D gaming, neither laptop is ideal due to poor refresh rates; the Gigabyte, despite its better resolution and panel type, won't provide the smooth visuals that high-refresh screens offer for fast-paced games.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the Gigabyte Aorus 17G compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The Aorus 17G isn't among the top RTX 3080 laptops due to its relatively low TGP of 105 watts. The device's gaming performance is average for an RTX 3080. For maximum performance, competitors like the Lenovo Legion 7 or the Alienware m17 R4 are recommended With the Aorus 17G, Gigabyte delivers a well-rounded gaming laptop. However, the device generates a high noise level. Throttling is not an issue. The CPU and GPU can develop their performance uniformly. Nevertheless, the device produces a lot of noise under load - more than many competitors."
