The Acer Aspire 5 17 is less expensive and performs well for general usage, making it suitable for everyday tasks and light productivity work. On the other hand, the Gigabyte Aorus 15X costs more but offers better performance for intensive tasks such as gaming and possibly heavy engineering applications or design software. You'll need to balance your budget with your performance needs: if cost is a key factor and your tasks are not heavily demanding, the Acer might suit you well. If you're seeking high performance for demanding tasks and are okay with the higher price, consider the Gigabyte. Give Feedback

The Gigabyte Aorus 15X is very good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The Gigabyte Aorus 15X surpasses the Acer Aspire 5 17 in gaming and 3D performance due to its superior Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU and a high 240Hz screen refresh rate, enhancing both visuals and gameplay smoothness. Conversely, the Acer Aspire 5 17, with a lower-end integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics and a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate, provides a sufficient but less impressive gaming experience.

The Gigabyte Aorus 15X has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For the Acer Aspire 5 17, the screen is adequate for activities like web browsing and document editing due to its acceptable resolution and brightness, but it lacks the wider color gamuts needed for precision color work in engineering and design. The screen falls short for gaming and 3D applications because it has a lower refresh rate, which doesn't deliver the smooth visuals required for fast-paced action and rendering.
The Gigabyte Aorus 15X provides a crisp and bright display suitable for everyday tasks and watching videos, making it a strong contender for general use. However, while it offers better color reproduction than the Aspire, it may not entirely meet the demands of professionals who rely on highly accurate color gamuts for their design work, and gamers might find the refresh rate not high enough for the competitive edge needed in fast-paced games despite its higher resolution and quality panel type.

"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The Gigabyte Aorus 15X is a strong showing of Raptor Lake and RTX 4000 series. While the Aorus had trouble keeping up in older games like Grand Theft Auto V, it nudged past the competition in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It also flexed its next-generation muscle in Far Cry 6 and Borderlands 3. While we were impressed with the overall build quality and design of the Aorus 15X, the keyboard lacked good tactile feedback. The display performed well in real-world testing despite its on-paper shortcoming with brightness, but the speakers are lackluster at best."
