When choosing between the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the ASUS ZenBook Duo 14, the main points to consider are the display, battery, portability, and performance for various tasks. The Acer Aspire 5 17 comes with a larger screen and a numeric keypad on the keyboard, making it preferable for productivity tasks that benefit from a larger display and data entry. On the other hand, the ASUS ZenBook Duo 14 has a touchscreen, better color coverage which is excellent for creative work, and a significantly better battery life, making it more suitable for on-the-go usage. While both have similar processors and graphics, the ASUS has a slightly higher performance level in 3D and engineering applications. If you value portability and a touchscreen with better color accuracy, you may lean towards the ASUS, but if a larger screen and a more affordable price are more critical, the Acer could be a better fit. The ASUS Zenbook Duo 14 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, where clarity, sharpness, and comfortable visibility are key, the Acer Aspire 5 17 provides adequate performance, but the ASUS Zenbook Duo 14's higher resolution and brighter display make viewing more pleasurable. When it comes to engineering and design, accurate colors are crucial; the Zenbook's superior color coverage caters better to professional needs for precision. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short, as neither offers the high refresh rates required for smooth graphics, even though the Zenbook might perform slightly better due to its comparatively improved resolution and panel technology.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the ASUS Zenbook Duo 14 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The Asus ZenBook Duo's second screen is like the Apple Touch Bar, but better. Most would agree that having two screens instead of one can really boost productivity and the ZenBook Duo is no different in this regard. It's tough going back to just one screen after becoming accustomed to spacious dual-screen setups. For a laptop form factor, however, users will have to accept some compromises. Firstly, weight is the most obvious drawback as the system is several hundred grams heavier than a regular ZenBook 14. Additionally, colors on the second screen will not be as vivid as the main display."
