For tasks like web browsing, document editing, and video streaming, the Acer Aspire 5 17 will serve you well with adequate performance, a comfortable keyboard, and a decent screen at a lower cost. However, if gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning are in your plans, the ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers a far superior experience with its advanced graphics, high refresh rate display, and strong processing power, albeit at a higher price and with reduced portability due to its larger size and heavier weight. The ASUS also shines for engineering applications, with better overall performance and a higher quality display but again sacrifices some portability. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 excels in gaming and 3D with its powerful Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU and a high 240Hz screen refresh rate, vital for smooth, visually immersive gameplay. Conversely, the Acer Aspire 5 17, which houses a modest Intel Iris Xe GPU and a standard 60Hz display, offers a fair gaming experience, but it isn't designed for the intensity of high-end games and intricate 3D applications.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 5 17's screen, while sufficient for everyday tasks, lacks the resolution and brightness that the ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers, making the ASUS superior for sharpness and visibility in various lighting. For engineering and design, the ASUS stands out with its wider color gamuts, providing richer and more accurate colors necessary for precise work. However, the ASUS's poor refresh rate limits its effectiveness for fast-paced 3D rendering and gaming, where smooth motion is key, despite its high resolution and panel quality.

"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
