The Acer Aspire 5 17 is a more budget-friendly option compared to the ASUS ROG Strix G15, making it appealing if you're conscious about spending. It's also slightly more portable, has a larger screen, and offers a solid build for everyday tasks and general use. However, for tasks like 3D rendering or machine learning, and for better gaming performance with a higher refresh rate and more powerful hardware, the ASUS ROG Strix G15 stands out. The ASUS additionally boasts superior color coverage for creative work. Both have backlit keyboards, but only ASUS offers customizable RGB lighting, further enhancing its gaming appeal. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G15 is good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Strix G15 offers a higher screen refresh rate and a more powerful Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU compared to the Acer Aspire 5 17's standard Intel Iris Xe graphics and lower refresh rate, making the ASUS more suited for smooth and high-quality gaming and 3D experiences. While the Acer may handle some games decently, its performance in gaming and 3D tasks is limited by its lower-end GPU and screen refresh rate, despite having a larger screen size.

The ASUS ROG Strix G15 is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 5 17's Intel i5-1335U CPU and integrated Iris Xe GPU provide decent performance for engineering and design, but it lacks the higher-tier components and graphics power found in gaming-oriented laptops like the ASUS ROG Strix G15, which is equipped with the stronger AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU and dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU, better suited for more demanding tasks. Additionally, the Acer's larger screen provides more working space, but it does make the laptop less portable than the ASUS, which also offers superior screen color reproduction and refresh rates, beneficial for precision in design work.

The ASUS ROG Strix G15 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 has a decent combination of resolution and brightness suitable for everyday tasks, but its limited color gamut and lower refresh rate hinder performance in tasks that require precise color accuracy and smooth visuals. The ASUS ROG Strix G15's superior color accuracy makes it a better fit for engineering and creative work that demands a wide color range, yet for gaming and 3D applications, its screen falls short due to a refresh rate that doesn't support the most fluid motion. Both laptops have adequate screen attributes for general use, but for specializations like engineering/design and gaming/3D, they may not meet the expectations of professionals and enthusiasts in those fields.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the ASUS ROG Strix G15 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The ASUS ROG Strix G15 is a successful high-performance 15-inch laptop. The Asus ROG Strix impresses with an elaborate design and fast hardware. The latter can unleash its potential well in the large 15-inch case and achieve a decent performance boost compared to the previous generation. Especially the stunning 300 Hz display as well as the RTX 3070 and its generous TDP give gamers their money's worth. Asus didn't neglect seemingly small details, either, such as the keyboard and the maintenance options. The ROG Strix G15 offers a lot of pure performance and excellent workmanship in a 15-inch format, but connectivity leaves something to be desired."
