If you're looking for a budget-friendly option that's easier to carry around, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 may suit your needs with its smaller screen size and lightweight design, plus it offers a touchscreen. However, it's less powerful, making it more suitable for basic tasks like web browsing, using office applications, or streaming video. On the other hand, if you require a high-performance laptop for gaming, 3D rendering, or other intensive engineering applications, and don't mind spending more, the MSI Raider GE77Hx is a better choice with its larger, higher resolution screen, significantly better graphics, and overall superior performance, but it has lower battery life and is heavier, which reduces its portability. The MSI Raider GE77Hx is very good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 offers a fair experience for general use primarily due to its average performance components like the Intel i3 CPU and less RAM, making it suitable for basic tasks, and a decent screen for comfortable viewing, combined with its advantages in portability and battery life. Conversely, the MSI Raider GE77Hx is evaluated as very good for general use because it packs more powerful components that provide faster performance, which is complemented by a high-quality screen, although this comes with a tradeoff in reduced portability and potentially shorter battery life.

The MSI Raider GE77Hx has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 offers sufficient resolution and brightness for typical tasks like web browsing or office work, but its color accuracy is not ideal for engineering and design where precise color reproduction is crucial. The MSI Raider GE77Hx, with its higher-resolution display, provides sharper images and better brightness, making it suitable for detailed work in engineering and design due to a wider color gamut. However, both lack high refresh rates, which limits their appeal for gaming and 3D work where fluid motion and quick screen updates are key to the experience.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"The MSI Raider GE77 offers a lot of power for a lot of money. The main components consist of a Core i9-12900HX CPU, a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU (175 watts TGP, 16 GB VRAM), and 64 GB of RAM, which makes for a high overall performance level. The GeForce GPU in particular scores some of the highest scores we have seen from this chip. Both the CPU and the GPU are able to run at continuously high clock speeds. The relatively high heat and noise emissions match our expectations for this device class. With approximately 5.5 to 6.5 hours, the battery life is good for a powerful 4K laptop."
