The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 offers a budget-friendly option with its lower price and lighter weight, making it highly portable for everyday use. It has a smaller screen that's touch-enabled and is suitable for general tasks with modest performance needs. In contrast, the HP Omen 17 is priced higher but provides significantly more power for demanding activities like 3D rendering, machine learning, and intensive gaming. It has a larger, higher-resolution non-touchscreen display and a much more potent graphics card. However, its larger size and heavier weight make it less convenient to carry around. The battery life on the HP Omen should also last less than the Acer during typical usage. Consider how you prioritize cost, performance, and portability when making your choice. Give Feedback

The HP Omen 17 is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The HP Omen 17 offers a more powerful CPU and greater RAM, resulting in smoother operation for demanding tasks, whereas the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14's lower specs may slow down with intense use but provides a lightweight and versatile 2-in-1 design. The HP has superior screen quality and gaming capabilities, while the Acer leads in portability and silent operation, but compromises in battery life, making it less suitable for long periods away from a power source compared to the HP's extensive battery life.

The HP Omen 17 is excellent for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The HP Omen 17 offers better gaming and 3D capabilities mainly due to its powerful Nvidia RTX 4080 GPU and high refresh rate screen, which are essential for smooth and immersive gameplay. In contrast, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is equipped with a less powerful Intel i3-N305 UHD Graphics Xe and a lower refresh rate display, making it less suitable for gaming and lacking hardware ray tracing that the HP Omen 17 includes.

The HP Omen 17 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14's display may offer adequate resolution and brightness, but it may fall short in panel type compared to the rich colors and sharpness provided by the HP Omen 17, which also likely benefits from a higher resolution and better overall screen quality. Regarding engineering and design, the HP Omen 17's display likely offers broader color gamuts which are crucial for precision in color work, whereas the Aspire 3 Spin 14 may not deliver as wide a range of colors. As for 3D and gaming, although the HP Omen 17's screen has higher resolution and a capable panel type, its refresh rate may not be as high as desired by gamers, which is crucial for smooth visuals in fast-paced scenes, an area where neither laptop excels.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
