The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is much less expensive and is highly portable, suitable for general use with a battery life suitable for typical day-to-day tasks and a touchscreen for convenience. The Gigabyte Aorus 17G, on the other hand, is much more expensive but offers superior performance for 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering with higher-quality build and a dedicated graphics card that supports intensive gaming. It is less portable due to its larger size and weight. If budget is a constraint and you need a laptop for everyday tasks, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is fitting, but if you require high performance for specialized tasks and gaming, and the budget is not an issue, the Gigabyte Aorus 17G would be a better choice. The Gigabyte Aorus 17G is good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The Gigabyte Aorus 17G outperforms the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 in gaming and 3D tasks primarily due to its higher-end Nvidia RTX 3070 graphics card and a much higher screen refresh rate of 300Hz, compared to the integrated Intel UHD Graphics and 60Hz on the Acer. While the Acer offers the versatility of a 2-in-1 convertible form factor, the Gigabyte's combination of a powerful CPU and dedicated GPU better supports demanding visual applications.

The Gigabyte Aorus 17G has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14's screen offers a balance suitable for everyday tasks, with decent resolution and brightness, but it may not deliver the wider color range professionals need for engineering and design. The Gigabyte Aorus 17G, with its higher resolution and brightness, provides better clarity and detail for both general use and intricate design work, yet despite these traits, its screen falls short for gaming and 3D tasks that require faster refresh rates. Both laptops are limited in gaming and 3D applications because they don't offer the quick screen refresh essential for smooth visuals in fast-paced scenarios.

How the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the Gigabyte Aorus 17G compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"The Aorus 17G isn't among the top RTX 3080 laptops due to its relatively low TGP of 105 watts. The device's gaming performance is average for an RTX 3080. For maximum performance, competitors like the Lenovo Legion 7 or the Alienware m17 R4 are recommended With the Aorus 17G, Gigabyte delivers a well-rounded gaming laptop. However, the device generates a high noise level. Throttling is not an issue. The CPU and GPU can develop their performance uniformly. Nevertheless, the device produces a lot of noise under load - more than many competitors."
