The Acer Aspire 3 with a larger screen may offer you more viewing real estate which could be beneficial for productivity, but it's generally less expensive due to its potentially lower build quality and performance. On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 has a reputation for a premium build and better display quality, making it a sleeker and more portable option. The Surface is typically chosen for its stronger performance and long battery life, which would serve well for more demanding tasks and travel convenience. However, if cost is a major factor and your tasks are not as intensive, the Acer Aspire 3 could serve your basic needs without the additional expense. Give Feedback

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 15's screen quality suffices for general tasks due to its adequate resolution and brightness, but it's not as vibrant for engineering and design where wider color gamuts matter, and its lower refresh rate affects the gaming and 3D experience negatively. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" offers a higher-quality display that's beneficial for both everyday use and professional engineering and design work, thanks to better resolution, brightness, and color reproduction; however, like the Acer, its refresh rate isn't optimized for the smooth visuals preferred in gaming and 3D applications. Overall, while the Surface Laptop presents a more premium visual experience for general and design use, neither laptop is ideal for high-refresh-rate demanding gaming and 3D tasks.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"The Surface Laptop 5 remains afloat as a solid machine. It's just not one that stands out in any particular way. Just like the last one. The biggest upgrade were some new components, but they perform in the same range as other laptops with them, and frequently at the bottom of that range. I suspect Microsoft's settings are very conservative to help keep cooling and battery life within reason in the older chassis design."
