The Acer Aspire 3 offers a budget-friendly option with ample screen size but trades off against lower storage and processing power, making it well-suited for basic tasks and general use. If you value a higher display quality with touch capabilities, more storage, and a stronger processor for tasks like 3D rendering or engineering software, along with a backlit keyboard and additional security features like a fingerprint reader, the HP Dragonfly Pro provides these at a higher price point. The HP also has a slightly better battery life and a more compact, lighter build, enhancing portability for on-the-go use. Give Feedback

The HP Dragonfly Pro 14" is only fair for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 with its more basic AMD Radeon 610M GPU and a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate is capable but not optimal for gaming and 3D tasks, which aligns with the HP Dragonfly Pro 14" that, despite having a better AMD Radeon 680M GPU, also has a 60Hz refresh rate, limiting the fluidity of fast-paced visuals often crucial in gaming. However, the HP Dragonfly Pro gets an edge for having a more powerful CPU and higher screen resolution, which could enhance overall performance and visual clarity respectively, but both will still fall short of the very high standards set by specialized gaming laptops.

The HP Dragonfly Pro 14" is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 is less suitable for demanding engineering and design tasks due to its lower-end AMD Ryzen 3 CPU and Radeon 610M GPU, and it has less RAM and a lower resolution screen compared to the HP Dragonfly Pro 14". The HP Dragonfly Pro, on the other hand, offers a more powerful AMD Ryzen 7 CPU and Radeon 680M GPU, double the RAM, a higher resolution touchscreen, and better color accuracy, all of which contribute to its higher suitability for engineering and design applications.

The HP Dragonfly Pro 14" has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 has a display that meets the basic needs for clarity, resolution, and brightness for everyday tasks but falls short in color accuracy crucial for engineering and design, and lacks the high refresh rates required for smooth rendering in gaming and 3D applications. The HP Dragonfly Pro 14" offers better overall screen quality, with improved brightness and sharpness for general tasks, and boosts higher color gamut coverage suitable for engineering and design work, although it too lacks the high refresh rate desired for optimal gaming and 3D experiences. While both laptops provide satisfactory visual experiences for general use and professional design work, neither is ideal for gaming and 3D complexity, due to their lower refresh rates.

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"I’d say that the HP Dragonfly Pro checks off most of the boxes for this freelancer. It feels nice to use, is zippy and responsive, has great speakers, and even has a relatively sane price. Although it’s an unorthodox choice to pick AMD for this kind of machine, it’s clear that when Ryzen is given a chance to shine, it can kick a lot of butt."
