The Acer Aspire 3 15 is less expensive and offers modest performance suitable for general use with its AMD Ryzen processor and Radeon graphics. The Gigabyte Aero is also heavier, which affects portability, but boasts a high-resolution OLED screen, potentially making it more appealing for those who prioritize display quality and performance over budget and portability. The Gigabyte Aero 16 is very good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 15, equipped with a Ryzen CPU and 8GB of RAM, offers basic performance for general tasks, but with a relatively lower-resolution screen and moderate battery life, it is suited for undemanding workloads and is easier to carry due to its lighter weight. In contrast, the Gigabyte Aero 16, powered by a more potent Intel CPU and paired with 16GB of RAM, excels in performance and boasts superior screen quality with its high-resolution OLED display, but these features come with a tradeoff in battery life and increased weight, impacting its portability.

The Gigabyte Aero 16 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When considering screen quality, the Acer Aspire 3 15 offers an adequate display for everyday tasks like browsing and video streaming, but its resolution and panel type may not be the most crisp or vibrant. The Gigabyte Aero 16, on the other hand, features a higher resolution and superior panel technology, resulting in sharper images and better color reproduction, making it ideal for professionals in engineering and design who require accurate color representation. However, for gaming and 3D applications where a high refresh rate is crucial for smooth motion, both laptops fall short, as neither is tailored specifically to the high-refresh-rate displays preferred for these uses.

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"The Gigabyte Aero 16 is a workstation laptop for light gaming. It's design is still muted, with a silver chassis alongside a black keyboard and trackpad that provides some contrast. The Gigabyte Aero’s full-size chiclet-style keyboard is enjoyable to type on thanks to its snappy feel and responsiveness. The 4K+ AMOLED display is good, but it could be better. It doesn’t handle true black very well and suffers from strong reflections and glare. The Gigabyte Aero excels at productivity performance and can keep up with other gaming laptops in 1080p. But it has very few ports and its refresh rate leaves a bit to be desired."
