If you're primarily using your computer for everyday tasks like browsing the internet, using office applications, and streaming videos, the Acer Aspire 3 15 will likely suffice and save you money. However, if you require a laptop for high-end gaming, 3D modeling, machine learning, or intensive engineering software, the ASUS ROG Strix G18 offers superior performance, but it's more expensive and less portable due to its size and weight. The ASUS also has a tendency to have a shorter battery life because of its powerful components. Choose the Acer for casual use and value; choose the ASUS for demanding tasks and gaming. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 (2024) is very good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 15, with more modest specifications, is adequate for everyday tasks, but its performance in CPU and RAM may not handle intensive applications as smoothly, and while it is more portable and has a decent battery life, screen quality is not as sharp. On the other hand, the ASUS ROG Strix G18 offers superior CPU and RAM performance, a high-quality screen for crisp visuals, and better heat management for heavy use, but is less portable due to its size and has a shorter battery life, making it less ideal for on-the-go use.

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 (2024) is excellent for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15, while adequate, has less powerful CPU, RAM, and GPU capabilities, which may limit performance in demanding engineering and design software, and has a lesser screen quality for detailed work compared to the ASUS ROG Strix G18. The ASUS, designed with high-end components for intensive tasks and a superior display, offers a better experience for engineering and design at the cost of being less portable and potentially noisier during heavy use.

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 offers a screen that is sufficient for everyday tasks and some professional work, thanks to a balance of resolution and brightness, but lacks the advanced color coverage crucial for precision in design-related fields. Conversely, the ASUS ROG Strix G18 excels in displaying sharp, bright images with a wide range of colors, making it ideal for engineering and detailed design work. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short due to their lower refresh rates, which are essential for smooth motion and an immersive experience in fast-paced visual environments.

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"With the ROG Strix G18, Asus has made an almost consistently good debut in the still quite new 18-inch laptop segment. The base unit case shows a few signs of weakness in the area of stability and is something which has an effect on the perceived quality of the input devices (the chassis tends to rattle a bit). Nevertheless, thanks to generous port features (incl. Thunderbolt 4), a striking design, and extensive lighting (keyboard, LED strip on the front), gamers get a fitting gaming platform."
