If you are looking for a laptop primarily for general use and value portability and longer battery life, the Acer Aspire 3 15 is a more budget-friendly choice with adequate performance for everyday tasks. However, if you require a laptop for intensive engineering tasks, 3D rendering, machine learning, or gaming, the ASUS ROG Strix G18, while significantly more expensive, offers substantially more powerful hardware, better screen quality at a higher resolution with a faster refresh rate, but it is heavier and has a shorter battery life, making it less portable. Rtings

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."

NotebookCheck

Florian Glaser | March 2023
"With the ROG Strix G18, Asus has made an almost consistently good debut in the still quite new 18-inch laptop segment. The base unit case shows a few signs of weakness in the area of stability and is something which has an effect on the perceived quality of the input devices (the chassis tends to rattle a bit). Nevertheless, thanks to generous port features (incl. Thunderbolt 4), a striking design, and extensive lighting (keyboard, LED strip on the front), gamers get a fitting gaming platform."
