To decide between the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Acer Aspire 5 17, consider that while the Aspire 3 may save you money, the Aspire 5 typically has a larger screen and better performance, which can be more suitable for multitasking and multimedia tasks. However, the Aspire 5's larger size can make it less portable. If you prioritize savings and portability, and primarily use your laptop for basic tasks like browsing and office applications, the Aspire 3 could be a smart choice. If you need more power for resource-intensive tasks and a bigger display, and don't mind a bulkier laptop and higher price, the Aspire 5 may better meet your needs. Give Feedback

The Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Acer Aspire 5 17 have similar screen quality.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 and Aspire 5 17 have fair screen quality for general use due to their adequate panel type, resolution, and acceptable brightness levels, making everyday tasks like browsing, document editing, and video streaming satisfactory. However, their fair screen quality in engineering and design is limited by modest color range coverage, affecting professionals who require precise color accuracy for detailed work. For gaming and 3D applications, the screens' poorer quality is attributed to lower refresh rates which can result in less fluid motion and their resolution and panel types not being optimal for high-end graphics rendering.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Acer Aspire 5 17 compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
