For general use, the Acer Aspire 3 will cost less and has ample battery life, but it has lower memory and processing power compared to the ASUS Zenbook 14X. The ASUS offers more memory and a higher-end processor suited for demanding engineering tasks, 3D rendering, or machine learning, although it is less portable due to shorter battery life. Additionally, the ASUS Zenbook's OLED display provides better colors and contrast, which is great for creative work, but this also comes at a higher price. If portability and price are your main concerns, the Acer might be the better option, but if you need better performance and a superior display, consider the ASUS, keeping in mind it has lower battery life. The ASUS Zenbook 14X and Acer Aspire 3 14 are both good for general use, though the ASUS Zenbook 14X is somewhat better.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X offers more RAM and a higher-quality OLED screen, along with a more powerful CPU and dedicated graphics, which enhances performance for general use compared to the Acer Aspire 3 14's modest specs and IPS screen. However, the Aspire 3 14 has a longer battery life and silent operation due to its fanless design, which may appeal to users looking for these specific features.

The ASUS Zenbook 14X is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 14 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 14 with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and an AMD Radeon GPU provides adequate power for engineering and design, but the ASUS Zenbook 14X steps up the performance with a more potent Intel i7 CPU, double the RAM at 16GB, and a more capable Nvidia MX550 GPU, making it more suitable for demanding tasks. Additionally, while both laptops offer good screen quality, the Zenbook's OLED display offers higher resolution, better color accuracy, and increased brightness, which benefits design work.

The ASUS Zenbook 14X has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 14's screen may suffice for basic tasks like web browsing and document editing, but its limited resolution and brightness could make fine details less sharp and colors less vivid, which is especially noticeable in intricate engineering work. ASUS Zenbook 14X's higher resolution and brightness deliver crisper visuals and more vibrant colors, critical for precision in engineering and design applications where subtle color differences matter. However, neither laptop has a high refresh rate display, making them less ideal for 3D applications and gaming, where smoother motion and quicker screen updates provide a competitive edge and a more immersive experience.

How the Acer Aspire 3 14 and the ASUS Zenbook 14X compare to other laptops
"With the Zenbook 14X, Asus has a 14-incher in its range that is - mostly - a joy to use. First, there is the colorful OLED panel with 3K resolution that displays the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces. The Zenbook is also at the forefront in terms of workmanship, input devices and connections with 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports and a generous keyboard layout. A pleasure to use, the Zenbook 14X is a solid, very well-built subnotebook that sits well on the table. A runtime of five hours, however, is below average for a high-end subnotebook nowadays. The OLED screensaver causes increased power consumption when in idle mode."
