If you prioritize music and calls quality, wireless convenience, and sweatproof features for exercise, opt for the Audio Technica ATH-TWX7; they offer excellent performance in these areas along with active noise cancelling for better isolation. However, if you're on a tighter budget and want headphones primarily for gaming with the best microphone quality, the JBL Quantum 100, although wired and without noise cancellation, would be a better fit. Keep in mind, Audio Technica provides better overall build quality and advanced codec support, while JBL leans towards affordability and might not be as durable or versatile for non-gaming use. "There’s plenty to like about the ATH-TWX7. A robust set of features brings a lot of convenience to your day. But a few of those tools could still use some fine-tuning and the lack of automatic pausing in 2024 is a head scratcher. Still, the audio is mostly good, and transparency mode is better than most. Add in the solid call quality and the in-app voice test and the ATH-TWX7 are a worthy consideration, especially at this price. Too bad it falls short of being a more complete package some of the competition offers for a slightly larger investment."
"I appreciate a functional piece of tech as much as I do gear on the bleeding edge, and the JBL Quantum 100 certainly falls in the former category. The sound is reasonably good, the built-in microphone is surprisingly reliable and it has a thoughtful design for the price. It lacks the convenience of Bluetooth, sure, but sometimes it’s nice not to have to worry about the finicky nature of wireless communication and go with good old hard-wired tech."
