If you're on a tight budget and need headphones primarily for a static listening experience, such as monitoring audio at a desk, the Audio Technica ATH M20X would serve you well with very good sound quality and a fair build. However, if you're willing to invest more for versatility and technological features, the Sennheiser Momentum Sport offers an excellent all-around package with very good sound, advanced codec support like AptX Adaptive for improved wireless performance, and active noise cancelling for noisy environments. They are also sweat-proof and dust-proof, making them suitable for exercise; plus, they come with health tracking capabilities. Additionally, their very good microphone and built-in controls make them suitable for calls. Keep in mind though, the Audio Technica might be better suited for long periods of TV and video consumption due to the Sennheiser's potentially higher latency, despite its support for low latency codecs. "Audio-Technica positively defies what you can expect for around $50. Ultimately, Audio-Technica did not design the ATH-M20x to go on the subway with you. It’s for the budget-conscious, do-it-yourself producer, podcaster, or studio that needs to buy tracking cans in bulk. If you don’t need the most deluxe, comfortable headphones, maybe you’ll like the ATH-M20x for its spartan functionality. The headphones are aimed at giving you the minimum requirements without it feeling like a sacrifice."
"We hadn't been expecting a new pair of dedicated sports buds but the surprise was nonetheless exciting. I got to try out the new buds at CES 2024 and while they have stayed true to delivering that "signature" Sennheiser sound, with a wide soundstage and strong sense of detail, it’s the extra wearable tech inside them that stands out to me against the best workout headphones."
