If you're looking for top-tier sound quality for music at home, particularly for genres that benefit from a wide soundstage, the Audeze LCD 2 Classic headphones are an excellent choice, but keep in mind their open-back design and size make them less portable and they don't offer noise isolation, which is not ideal for noisy environments or travel. On the other hand, if you need something versatile for everyday use, including calls, meetings, and exercise, the Audio Technica ATH-TWX7 earbuds offer very good sound quality, portability, and features like active noise cancelling, sweatproof certification, and low latency mode for gaming and videos, all at a lower price point compared to the Audezes; however, for critical listening, they may not match the Audezes' high-fidelity sound. "These headphones outdo rival planar magnetic headphones, especially in terms of dynamics. Compared to the Hifiman Ananda or the Hifiman Edition XS there is noticeably more slam in the sound, particularly in the bass. The LCD-2C gives you a fantastic sense of quiet dynamics with crystalline precision. This is evident also in our clinical tests, where it’s just easier to understand spoken text at very low volumes."
"There’s plenty to like about the ATH-TWX7. A robust set of features brings a lot of convenience to your day. But a few of those tools could still use some fine-tuning and the lack of automatic pausing in 2024 is a head scratcher. Still, the audio is mostly good, and transparency mode is better than most. Add in the solid call quality and the in-app voice test and the ATH-TWX7 are a worthy consideration, especially at this price. Too bad it falls short of being a more complete package some of the competition offers for a slightly larger investment."
