If you prioritize overall picture quality, gaming, and watching content in dark environments, the Sony A80K OLED TV will offer a significantly better experience, but it comes at a premium price. This TV is well-suited for movies and series, offers great sports viewing, and provides a superior dark room performance. It also has better viewing angles and handling of reflections, which is advantageous if you have a wide seating area or a room with many light sources. In contrast, the Vizio V-Series LCD TV is more budget-friendly, but its picture quality, especially for sports and in dark rooms, is not as impressive. It doesn't perform as well in bright rooms compared to the Sony A80K, either. For casual TV watching, such as news, reality TV, or cartoons, the Vizio may suffice, and it also offers lower input lag for gaming, although its overall gaming performance isn't as strong. In summary, if you're willing to invest more for a higher-quality viewing and gaming experience, the Sony A80K is an excellent choice. However, if you are looking for a more affordable option for casual viewing and are less concerned about optimal picture quality, the Vizio V-Series could be sufficient. Give Feedback

USA Today

Michael Desjardin | December 2022
"It’s a high-end TV through and through something that becomes clear the moment you glance at its stunning picture. The A80K’s surgically precise contrast control is likely the first thing you’ll notice about its picture ... every piece of content looks better when this amount of precision is available. Color accuracy is another strong suit; the A80K features fantastic out-of-the-box color accuracy in the Custom picture mode."

CNET

Geoffrey Morrison | June 2021
"Vizio's cheapest 4K HDR TV packs in a lot for a low price. The voice control via the remote works well, about as well as Roku's version on devices that have it. So if you know your way around a TV menu, or want to be able to dial in the picture even on an inexpensive TV, the Vizio is the better choice"

About Sony

Sony stands as a highly experienced and widely trusted TV manufacturer, earning a reputation that surpasses all others. A Japanese company, Sony has been making TVs for far longs than it has been making Playstation game consoles. Sony's high-end TVs are often regarded as the ultimate choice for videophiles, representing the epitome of quality, albeit at a premium price point. Renowned for their advanced and precise motion handling, as well as their cutting-edge local dimming algorithms, Sony consistently delivers unparalleled performance in these areas. They include Google TV software with all their TV sets, which grants access to the largest selection of apps available and they also include Bravia Core which is a movie streaming platform specifically for Sony TVs that offers higher picture quality by using more bandwidth.

About Vizio

Vizio is an American company. While they initially gained recognition for offering budget-friendly TVs, they have successfully expanded their product lineup to include high-end options as well. They manufacture TVs primarily in Mexico, China, and Vietnam. Similar to many Korean TV brands, Vizio developed its own smart TV software called SmartCast. In the past, SmartCast was not the best smart TV software, but it has evolved so that it is now good for using your TV and connecting to streaming services.
