The Samsung Q60B is often significantly more expensive, but it offers better overall picture quality and is superior for watching news, talk shows, reality TV, cartoons, and animation. Its performance in a bright room is also decent. However, it falls short in dark room performance. In contrast, the Sony X80K costs less and is better for watching sports, with a higher rating for sports content specifically. It also has a higher quality control and product assurance score. Its upscaling and motion processing are impressive, and it has a lower response time, which could benefit gamers. However, its general picture quality and performance in both dark and bright rooms aren't as good as the Samsung Q60B. Both TVs have similar connectivity options and support for various HDR formats, though the Sony X80K has a slight edge in the number of HDMI ports and also supports Dolby Vision, which the Samsung does not. Neither TV has particularly strong audio capabilities, so you might consider supplementary speakers for a better audio experience. If you're watching in a variety of lighting conditions, prefer watching animations or need the better picture quality, and are willing to spend more, the Samsung Q60B could be a great choice. On the other hand, if you enjoy sports, are looking for gaming features, or are on a tighter budget, the Sony X80K would be a worthwhile option. Give Feedback

CNET

David Katzmaier | June 2022
"Samsung's 2022 QLED workhorse shines in bright rooms and with HDR. The Samsung Q60B stands out from the slew of entry-level TVs with an ultra-thin frame, a skinny profile from the side and even narrow stand legs. The Q60B is a very good bright-room TV, and my subjective impression of its ample light output was proven by measurements."

Tom's guide

Matthew Murray | February 2023
"The Sony Bravia X80K is an inexpensive LCD TV that turns out pleasing visuals and is armed with a number of other desirable features. Sony’s robust internal processing, results in generally better picture quality than you’ll usually get for this price. In practice, the X80K is satisfying to watch. You’re not going to get as sumptuous a picture as you may with other TVs from Sony or other companies, but we didn’t encounter anything that looked bad on it."
