If you are on a tight budget and prefer saving money, the TCL S450R would be the more economical choice. However, the LG UR9000, while often costing more, has significantly better quality control and may offer a more uniform picture. For gaming, both TVs are comparable with lower performance, but if you plan to use the TV in a bright room, the TCL S450R's excellent black uniformity might not be as relevant due to its only fair score for handling reflections. On the other hand, neither TV would be ideal for watching sports as both have only fair sports content scores. If you're considering upscaling from lower resolution content, the LG UR9000 performs very well in this regard. Keep in mind that for darker room settings, both TVs only offer fair overall picture quality and dark room scores, but for a living space with various lighting conditions, the TCL S450R could be more versatile due to its mixture of fair and excellent scores across different content types. Both are LCD TVs, but if the number of HDMI ports is a concern, the TCL has 4 compared to LG's 3.
