Choose the Hisense U6H if you're looking for value and a good all-around performance at a budget price. It usually costs significantly less than the Vizio M-Series and offers a solid experience for watching news, talk shows, reality TV, and animations, as well as for gaming and movie nights, particularly in rooms that aren't overly bright. Opt for the Vizio M-Series if you don't mind spending more for a generally better experience with sports content and slightly better performance in dark room settings. It has a slightly higher contrast and better black uniformity, making it suitable for viewing darker scenes. However, it's less adept at handling very bright rooms compared to the Hisense. Both TVs support common HDR formats, have similar sound quality, and lack great speakers, suggesting an external sound system might be worthwhile for an enhanced audio experience. Overall, the Hisense U6H provides a compelling value proposition, while the Vizio M-Series has its strengths in specific viewing scenarios despite being typically more expensive. Give Feedback

Tom's guide

Matthew Murray | March 2023
"A budget TV that exceeds expectations. (...) For a TV that costs as little as this one does, its brightness and color are above-average (...) The U6H may not get quite as bright as its splashier siblings, but for its class, it fares pretty well. (...) As far as input lag, the U6H is an impressive performer. (...) Costing less than most of its direct competitors, and matching or bettering them in several key areas, it’s an irresistible value proposition. (...)"

About Hisense

Hisense, a Chinese TV manufacturer, entered the US market in approximately 2011 and has since acquired TV divisions from various companies such as Toshiba, Sharp, Hitachi, and NEC. Currently ranking as the fourth largest vendor in terms of sales volume, Hisense aims to capture a wide range of TV budget segments. They offer exceptional value with TVs that often outperform their competitors at similar price points, making them a compelling choice for consumers. In the US, they use Google TV as their smart TV software which provides the largest app selection and a very modern user interface, however it is not as user friendly as the software from other vendors.

About Vizio

Vizio is an American company. While they initially gained recognition for offering budget-friendly TVs, they have successfully expanded their product lineup to include high-end options as well. They manufacture TVs primarily in Mexico, China, and Vietnam. Similar to many Korean TV brands, Vizio developed its own smart TV software called SmartCast. In the past, SmartCast was not the best smart TV software, but it has evolved so that it is now good for using your TV and connecting to streaming services.
