If you prioritize gaming performance and a strong contrast for a more impactful dark room viewing experience, the Hisense U8H would be a better choice for you, and it is usually less expensive. It also offers better performance for watching movies and animated content. However, if a wider viewing angle and higher sound quality are more important for your needs, perhaps in a family setting or where viewers will be seated at various angles from the TV, the Samsung QN85B might suit you better. It also has better reflection handling which can be crucial in very bright rooms, but it is typically more expensive. Both TVs have great capabilities for various HDR content and have a similar number of HDMI ports. Keep in mind that the Hisense supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, while the Samsung does not support Dolby Vision. Give Feedback

IGN

Jaron Schneider | January 2023
"Hisense is over here making the best TVs for the majority of average families. U8H is a juiced-up utility knife of a television that manages to do a lot of things pretty well. The brightness this TV is capable of pushing out means I can see everything going on in any video game I’m playing regardless of what time of day it is"

What Hi-Fi?

John Archer | February 2023
"Particularly key to this is the fact that black levels are unusually good, on a level we haven’t seen from any IPS TV before. Build quality is impressive too, with a gleaming silver metallic frame and stand, and enough heft to suggest plenty of quality innards. High dynamic range content jumps off the screen with enough luminosity and intensity to really sell what makes HDR special."

About Hisense

Hisense, a Chinese TV manufacturer, entered the US market in approximately 2011 and has since acquired TV divisions from various companies such as Toshiba, Sharp, Hitachi, and NEC. Currently ranking as the fourth largest vendor in terms of sales volume, Hisense aims to capture a wide range of TV budget segments. They offer exceptional value with TVs that often outperform their competitors at similar price points, making them a compelling choice for consumers. In the US, they use Google TV as their smart TV software which provides the largest app selection and a very modern user interface, however it is not as user friendly as the software from other vendors.

About Samsung

Samsung, a South Korean electronics manufacturer, holds the title of being the largest global TV vendor in terms of units sold. They offer a diverse lineup of TV products that cater to various budget ranges. A notable achievement in recent years is the development of Quantum Dots, a technology that enhances color reproduction, resulting in richer and more vibrant hues. Samsung TVs are well-regarded for their high manufacturing quality and user-friendly software, making them an excellent choice for consumers seeking an intuitive viewing experience.
