If a better camera is a priority for you, then the Google Pixel 8 Pro has a superior overall camera quality with good photo and video shooting capabilities. However, the Google Pixel 7a is significantly cheaper while still providing decent camera capabilities. The battery life is slightly better on the Pixel 8 Pro. The Pixel 8 Pro also boasts a larger screen size and a more premium glass back, compared to the plastic back of the 7a. Both phones offer similar features such as Android OS and OLED displays, but the 7a has a slightly lower display brightness and refresh rate compared to the 8 Pro, which might be less smooth in fast-paced content. Remember that the Pixel 8 Pro will cost more than the 7a. Give Feedback

The Verge

Allison Johnson | May 2023
"The Pixel 7a is the best midrange Android phone — period. The camera doesn’t always nail it, but it’s impressively capable for this class. And even though it’s pricier than last year’s model, it comes with some serious upgrades not often seen in this class, like wireless charging."

The Guardian

Samuel Gibbs | October 2023
"The screen, body, performance and battery life are all good. The Pixel has a distinctive look that elevates it from the many of the competition, too. It has a really great camera system, with an array of advanced AI-infused editing tools that blur the line between what’s real and what’s fake. But the biggest upgrade is in the full seven years of software support, bringing the Pixel up to par with Apple and outlasting all but the Fairphone 5 on the Android side."

About Google

Google can be considered a relatively new player in the smartphone industry, joining as late as 2016 with their phone, the Google Pixel. Since then, the Pixel lineup has undergone many changes, but it has always been characterized by a focus on photography and clean software, by providing a pure Android experience. By virtue of Google being the creator of the Android operating system, Pixels are known for receiving timely software updates and for being supported with updates for a long time. Additionally, over the past few generations of devices, Google started designing their own processors. This allowed for the implementation of unique software features that are not present in any other phone, such as automatic call screening and unique voice transcribing capabilities.
