If you're looking for a more affordable option that still offers a solid gaming experience with high refresh rates and variable refresh rate support, consider the LG 27GP850. It's well-suited for casual and competitive gaming due to its faster response time and smaller size that doesn't stretch the action out as much. However, the LG 34GN850B, with its wider screen and immersive aspect ratio, enhances productivity and media consumption, though you might not find it as strong in competitive gaming scenarios due to a slightly slower response time. Neither monitor is ideal for serious HDR gaming and media. Therefore, if cost is a significant factor and you prioritize gaming, the LG 27GP850 may be more appealing, whereas if you're willing to invest more for a broader display that can bolster productivity and offer a more captivating media experience, the LG 34GN850B could be the better choice. "In my opinion, the LG 27GP850 is the best in its class from the monitors I've tested, with the combination of great response times and a functional sRGB mode pushing it over the edge. It's generally worth the price premium and its overall balance of features with few weak areas makes it a monitor you won't be disappointed to have."

"Mid-range 3440 x 1440 144Hz VA monitors are ~$500 to $600 these days. You are getting a much better product for the higher price of the LG, with faster response times and better colors (outside of the contrast ratio), but this is definitely a monitor that is reserved for those that want the best of the best and are willing to pay for it."
