The MSI Modern 14 is a more budget-friendly and portable option, making it suitable for everyday tasks and light work on the go. However, if you require top-tier performance for gaming, 3D design, or machine learning, and don't mind spending more and dealing with a heavier laptop with shorter battery life, the MSI Titan 18 HX offers significantly more power. Choose the Modern 14 for casual use and easy carrying, or the Titan 18 HX if performance and high-end features are your priority, despite its heft and higher cost. Give Feedback

The MSI Titan 18 HX is very good for general use, while the MSI Modern 14 is good.
The MSI Modern 14 offers a balance of decent CPU performance, sufficient RAM, and good screen quality, making it suitable for everyday tasks, while also being light and having solid battery life for portability. The MSI Titan 18 HX, with a more powerful CPU and larger RAM, excels in more demanding applications and has a superior screen, but it is heavier and may have shorter battery life, making it less portable but better for intensive tasks.

The MSI Titan 18 HX is excellent for gaming and AI, while the MSI Modern 14 is only fair.
The MSI Modern 14 offers modest gaming and 3D capabilities suitable for casual use due to its less powerful GPU and lower screen refresh rate, while the MSI Titan 18 HX excels with a top-tier GPU and high refresh rate screen, making it ideal for demanding games and professional 3D work. The Titan's superior CPU and screen quality further enhance its performance, although the Modern 14 provides adequate processing power and screen clarity for everyday tasks and less intensive applications.

The MSI Titan 18 HX is best in class for engineering and design, while the MSI Modern 14 is only fair.
The MSI Titan 18 HX, with its superior CPU, RAM, GPU, and screen quality, offers more power and a better visual experience for demanding engineering and design tasks compared to the MSI Modern 14; however, the MSI Modern 14 offers greater portability and potentially quieter operation, making it a compromise for those who value mobility alongside adequate performance. While the Titan's keyboard and speaker quality enhance the user experience for extended work sessions, these features contribute to a less portable and likely noisier device.

The MSI Titan 18 HX has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The MSI Modern 14's screen offers adequate resolution and brightness for daily tasks and productivity, but it lacks the wide color gamut necessary for precise engineering and design work, and its refresh rate is too low for the smooth visuals desired in 3D gaming. The MSI Titan 18 HX, on the other hand, boasts a high-quality display that's excellent for both everyday use and professional design due to its superior resolution, brightness, and color accuracy, yet it falls short for 3D gaming because it doesn't prioritize a high refresh rate. For gamers, neither laptop is ideal; they should look for a machine with a screen that supports higher refresh rates to ensure fluid gameplay.

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
"With no new Nvidia GPU this year for laptops, MSI had to refresh everything surrounding the graphics card to make up for it. Users are getting a new 18-inch chassis design, new 14th gen Intel HX CPU, new AC adapter, larger keys, and a new 120 Hz HDR1000 mini-LED 4K display to accompany the high price tag. Most of these changes are a step up from last year's GT77, but users are ultimately getting the same gaming performance out of both models."
