If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option that still offers solid performance for everyday tasks like web browsing, document editing, and media consumption, the MSI Modern 14 may be the right choice for you. However, if you're interested in gaming, video editing, or other resource-intensive activities, the MSI Thin GF63, despite being more expensive, provides better performance and a dedicated graphics card that can handle these demands. Keep in mind, the GF63 may also be heavier and have a shorter battery life, making the Modern 14 a more portable option. Consider what you'll use your laptop for the most when making your decision. The MSI Thin GF63 is good for engineering and design, while the MSI Modern 14 is only fair.
The MSI Modern 14, with its AMD processor and Vega graphics, is competent for engineering and design but may lack the muscle for more demanding tasks, whereas the MSI Thin GF63 boasts a more robust Intel processor and Nvidia graphics, better suited for resource-intensive workloads. The Modern 14 offers greater portability and longer battery life, making it suitable for on-the-go use, but the GF63 provides a larger, higher-refresh-rate screen, ultimately enhancing visual design and engineering experiences.

The MSI Thin GF63 has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, a laptop like the MSI Modern 14 or the MSI Thin GF63 with fair screen quality will make activities like browsing, watching videos, and working with documents pleasant, but its moderate resolution and brightness may not be as crisp or vibrant as higher-end models. When dealing with engineering and design tasks, both laptops offer adequate color representation, but professionals might find the color range lacking for high-precision work that requires broader color gamuts. Meanwhile, casual gaming is feasible, but the lack of a high refresh rate will disappoint gamers looking for smooth visuals in fast-paced games or for running intensive 3D applications efficiently.

How the MSI Modern 14 and the MSI Thin GF63 compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
"The MSI GF63 Thin 11SC can be an admirable value for gamers and power users on a minimal budget. For just $599 as reviewed in its base model, its Intel Core i5 H-class processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics perform much better than low-wattage CPUs and integrated graphics. That said, this is a light-class gaming laptop. Low scores in our demanding gaming benchmarks indicate using lower visual-quality settings will be required for playable performance."
