The MSI Modern 14 is much less expensive and lighter, making it more portable and suitable for general use with decent battery life, but it has modest performance capabilities due to its AMD Ryzen 5 processor and Vega 7 graphics. On the other hand, the MSI Stealth GS66, while much more expensive and heavier, offers significantly better performance with its Intel i7 processor and Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti graphics, making it well-suited for intensive engineering tasks, 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming, despite its shorter battery life. The MSI Stealth GS66 is very good for engineering and design, while the MSI Modern 14 is only fair.
The MSI Modern 14's combination of an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, integrated Vega 7 graphics, and lower screen color coverage make it less suitable for demanding engineering and design tasks compared to the MSI Stealth GS66, which boasts a more powerful Intel i7 CPU and Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti GPU along with higher screen color coverage, providing better performance and visual clarity for intricate work. Additionally, while the MSI Modern 14 is lighter and hence more portable, the MSI Stealth GS66 offers superior keyboard and speaker quality, though it is heavier and might be less convenient to carry around.

The MSI Stealth GS66 has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the MSI Modern 14 offers an adequate display with respectable resolution and brightness, making it suitable for everyday tasks, but the MSI Stealth GS66 steps up with superior brightness and resolution, enhancing visibility and clarity. In the realm of engineering and design, the MSI Stealth GS66 takes the lead again with its wider color gamuts, providing more accurate and vibrant color representation which is crucial for detailed work. However, both models fall short for 3D applications, where the MSI Stealth GS66, despite having a good panel and resolution, still lacks the high refresh rate that's critical for smooth, immersive 3D experiences and gaming.

How the MSI Modern 14 and the MSI Stealth GS66 compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
"The MSI Stealth GS66 is powerful enough for QHD. The Core i7-12700H and the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti found in the 12UGS model that we tested run all modern games smoothly in the native QHD resolution. The 15-inch display is very fast with its 240 Hz refresh rate, and it also offers a great color space (almost 100% DCI-P3) on top of that, which should please gamers as well as content creators, although we would have still wished for a higher brightness. Case, input devices, and connectivity (Thunderbolt 4) are at a good level. However, among other things, the GS66 loses points due to the high temperature development in 3D mode and its poor webcam."
