If price is a significant concern and you need a laptop for everyday tasks like browsing the web, working with documents and streaming video, the MSI Modern 14 is a suitable and more affordable option; it's also lighter and easier to carry around. However, if you require top-notch performance for demanding activities such as gaming, 3D modeling, or machine learning, and you're willing to invest more, the MSI Raider GE77Hx, with its powerful hardware, would be the better choice albeit with reduced portability due to its size and possibly shorter battery life. The MSI Raider GE77Hx has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the MSI Modern 14's screen may not be as sharp or vibrant as the MSI Raider GE77Hx due to its lower resolution and brightness, which impacts the clarity and visibility of content. When it comes to engineering and design, the Modern 14's limited color gamut means less accurate color representation, while the Raider GE77Hx with its better coverage of DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB ensures that colors are more accurate and consistent for professional work. However, both laptops have screens with a lower refresh rate, making them less ideal for 3D work and gaming where smoother motion and quicker screen updates are crucial for an immersive experience.

"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
"The MSI Raider GE77 offers a lot of power for a lot of money. The main components consist of a Core i9-12900HX CPU, a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU (175 watts TGP, 16 GB VRAM), and 64 GB of RAM, which makes for a high overall performance level. The GeForce GPU in particular scores some of the highest scores we have seen from this chip. Both the CPU and the GPU are able to run at continuously high clock speeds. The relatively high heat and noise emissions match our expectations for this device class. With approximately 5.5 to 6.5 hours, the battery life is good for a powerful 4K laptop."
