The MSI Modern 14 is lighter and more affordable, making it suitable for general use and easy to carry around. However, the MSI Prestige 15, although more costly, offers a larger screen, a more capable Nvidia graphics card for better 3D and engineering tasks, and a longer battery life. Choose the Modern 14 if portability and budget are your priorities, and the Prestige 15 if you need improved performance for more demanding applications like video editing or light gaming. The MSI Prestige 15 is good for engineering and design, while the MSI Modern 14 is only fair.
The MSI Prestige 15, with its dedicated Nvidia GTX 1650 Max-Q graphics and larger screen with more accurate color representation, offers better performance for engineering and design tasks than the MSI Modern 14, which uses integrated AMD graphics and has a smaller screen with less color accuracy. Additionally, the Prestige 15 balances this enhanced capability with good portability and quiet operation, though it's slightly heavier and larger than the very portable Modern 14, which also operates quietly.

The MSI Prestige 15 has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, engineering and design, and software development.
The MSI Modern 14 offers suitable resolution and brightness for everyday tasks and sufficient color accuracy for basic engineering and design work but its lower refresh rate and modest screen properties limit the experience in high frame rate gaming and 3D applications. The MSI Prestige 15, with its higher resolution and better brightness, enhances the viewing and working experience for both general users and those involved in more color-critical tasks, like engineering and design, due to its superior color gamut coverage. However, similar to the Modern 14, the Prestige 15's lower refresh rate may not satisfy gamers or professionals working with 3D modeling who seek smooth visuals in fast-paced environments.

How the MSI Modern 14 and the MSI Prestige 15 compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
"The MSI Prestige 15 offers a dazzling 4K image quality, and solid performance. The MSI Prestige 15 appears to consistently implement the guiding principle of throttling the solid and efficient hardware to such an extent that content creation succeeds perfectly. Performance-hungry tasks, on the other hand, are slowed down a little by the reduced power consumption. Conversely, this means that the case remains relatively cool and the dual fan subdued. The battery life also benefits somewhat. So the losses aren't really dramatic because full performance is still available for short bursts."
