The MSI Katana 15 generally falls in the midrange price category, is more expensive than the MSI Prestige 14, and comes with more powerful graphics capabilities, making it better suited for gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning tasks. It features a larger 15.6-inch display and a higher refresh rate, which can be crucial for fast-paced games or smoother visuals, but it's also heavier, which might impact portability. Conversely, the MSI Prestige 14 is priced lower, is lighter, making it easier to carry, and offers longer battery life. It's more tailored for general use, business applications, and tasks that don't necessarily require a powerful GPU. However, its performance for graphics-intensive tasks won't match the MSI Katana 15 due to its integrated graphics. If portability and long battery life are top priorities and your tasks aren't graphics-intensive, the Prestige 14 might be the better option, while if you need a laptop for gaming or design work and don't mind carrying something a bit heavier, the Katana 15 would suit you better. The MSI Katana 15 has a better screen than the MSI Prestige 14 for gaming and AI, while the MSI Prestige 14 has a better screen for general use, engineering and design, and content creation.
For general use, both the MSI Katana 15 and the MSI Prestige 14 offer clear and bright displays with resolutions that make text and images look sharp, but the Prestige 14 pulls ahead with a higher-quality panel that provides better viewing angles and more accurate colors. The Prestige 14's screen also benefits engineers and designers with its wider color gamut, ensuring a more accurate color representation for professional work. However, neither laptop is ideal for gaming or running 3D applications, as both have screens with lower refresh rates that won't deliver as smooth visuals as models designed specifically for those purposes.

How the MSI Katana 15 and the MSI Prestige 14 compare to other laptops
"The MSI Katana 15 B12 combines a Gen12 CPU with an RTX 4050, which is actually not a bad idea for a budget gamer. The CPU is anything but bad and the GPU in the Katana 15 proves to be significantly more efficient than last year's models. However, our main point of criticism for budget gamers is the price: while you can get budget laptops with RTX 3060 from around US$800, you pay a whole US$1,499.99 here! The efficiency advantages of the RTX 4050 do not justify this price premium."
"The MSI Prestige 14” is excellent for productivity and business use cases, but it is not ideal for creators or visual content editors. The Prestige was able to power through days of email, spreadsheets, and text documents without breaking a sweat and was a joy to use. The additional ports were a breath of fresh air, as most laptops seem to be moving towards just Thunderbolt ports. The security options made signing in effortless, with two quick, more secure, and faster options than even the most complex alphanumeric passcode."
