The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" is more budget-friendly and is particularly suited for general use due to its long battery life and higher resolution screen, which makes for comfortable reading and web browsing. Its portability is a strong point, as it's lighter and slimmer. However, if you need more power for activities like 3D modeling, machine learning, or gaming, then the MSI Stealth GS66 offers much higher performance with its advanced processor and dedicated graphics card. This extra power comes with tradeoffs: the MSI laptop is heavier and has shorter battery life, making it less ideal for on-the-go use. Give Feedback

The MSI Stealth GS66 is very good for engineering and design, while the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" is good.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" has a high-resolution screen with touch capability, making it suitable for design tasks, but its Intel i7-1255U processor and integrated graphics may lag behind in more demanding engineering software compared to the MSI Stealth GS66, which boasts a more powerful Intel i7-12700H CPU and dedicated Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti GPU.
While both laptops have similar RAM and storage capacity, making them capable machines for engineering and design, the MSI Stealth GS66's superior processor and graphics card provide it with an edge for intensive tasks, though it is heavier and not as portable as the lighter and thinner Surface Laptop 5, which also offers better battery life and a quieter operating noise.

The MSI Stealth GS66 has a better screen than the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the consistently high resolution and brightness across both the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 and MSI Stealth GS66 make the visuals sharp and content easy to view, even in well-lit environments. Both laptops also offer good color accuracy and wide color gamut support, which is crucial for professionals in engineering and design where precise color representation matters. However, because gaming and 3D tasks benefit from higher refresh rates for smoother motion, these laptops fall short for such activities as they prioritize display features that serve productivity rather than fast-paced interactive media.

How the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" and the MSI Stealth GS66 compare to other laptops
"The Surface Laptop 5 remains afloat as a solid machine. It's just not one that stands out in any particular way. Just like the last one. The biggest upgrade were some new components, but they perform in the same range as other laptops with them, and frequently at the bottom of that range. I suspect Microsoft's settings are very conservative to help keep cooling and battery life within reason in the older chassis design."
"The MSI Stealth GS66 is powerful enough for QHD. The Core i7-12700H and the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti found in the 12UGS model that we tested run all modern games smoothly in the native QHD resolution. The 15-inch display is very fast with its 240 Hz refresh rate, and it also offers a great color space (almost 100% DCI-P3) on top of that, which should please gamers as well as content creators, although we would have still wished for a higher brightness. Case, input devices, and connectivity (Thunderbolt 4) are at a good level. However, among other things, the GS66 loses points due to the high temperature development in 3D mode and its poor webcam."
